The moment that we’ve all been counting down to has finally arrived – the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 on April 20.

In celebration, we’re taking a trip down memory lane to relive the original premiere in 2006.

A-list actresses Meryl StreepAnne Hathaway and Emily Blunt attended the glamorous premiere, alongside guests including Sarah Jessica Parker and Hayden Panettiere.

The evening called for fashionable Y2K fashion, which included pouf hairstyles, sparkles and shades. Gird your loins for the two-decade throwback below.

At the time, Meryl sported a long-sleeve satin shirt, with a sequin knee-length skirt and an elegant beige shawl with lace detailing. She also wore silver hoops, white heels, and black glasses with blue shades.

Meryl was excited about portraying her notorious role of Miranda Priestly again, who has left us with countless sayings. She revealed to Good Morning America: “It was really fun to come back and revisit a character 20 years later — who gets to do that?”

The actress is aware of the global anticipation for the sequel and she expressed: “Kids were waiting. Women were waiting. Gay men were waiting. And regular men were waiting.”

As for what viewers can expect, Meryl believes the sequel remains true to the message behind the original movie. She shared: “It is about the beauty people can put into the world, and it’s about commerce and it’s about art and commerce.”

Anne donned a bold red floor-length dress, with a plunging neckline. She completed the look with an updo hairstyle, gold earrings with red crystals, and silver open-toe heels.

Despite the film’s immense popularity, Anne initially didn’t believe that a part two would ever happen in the future.

In 2022, Anne revealed to Entertainment Tonight: “There’s not going to be a sequel. It’s not gonna happen. It’s just like, we can’t do it. It’s not gonna happen. It exists. There are other films. There will be other films. We can just watch that one [The Devil Wears Prada] again. “

During the Big Ticket Podcast this year, Anne expressed her disbelief that it actually happened. She stated: “I don’t think any of us ever thought that we’d be reunited as The Devil Wears Prada, you know, core team. I don’t think we thought that was gonna be in the cards.”
