Emergency crews raced to the site of the crash in Melbourne, which took place shortly before 4pm on Tuesday, September 8.

A woman and seven children were travelling in the car when it overturned. A seven-year-old girl died at the scene.

An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries. He passed away overnight.

The other five children were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for observation.

Air ambulance teams, intensive care and advanced life paramedics stayed at the location throughout Tuesday afternoon.
