Teyana Taylor Reacts to Security Guard’s “Disrespect” in Post-Oscars 2026 Confrontation

No matter how often you walk the red carpet, being a celebrity is certainly no walk in the park, as a tense interaction between best supporting actress nominee Teyana Taylor and a security guard at the Oscars 2026 Sunday evening proves.

Video posted to social media Sunday after the ceremony showed Taylor stopped in the midst of a crowd heading backstage at the Dolby Theater for a cast photo to celebrate One Battle After Another’s six Oscar wins.

“You’re a man putting your hands on a female,” she can be heard saying, adding, “you’re very rude.” She was reportedly reacting to a male security guard who she said shoved her in the crowd, in an attempt to block her and Warner Bros. co-chair Pamela Abdy from their destination. “He literally shoved me,” she explained to a nearby onlooker as Abdy held her hand. “He was damn near shoving her.”

Taylor’s reps declined to further comment on the incident when contacted by Vanity Fair.

Shortly after the altercation, Taylor spoke to TMZ.

“I just don’t tolerate disrespect—especially when it’s unwarranted and it’s unprovoked,” she said. “Security was just doing a lot … There’s always that one.”

In a statement shared with Vanity Fair, representatives for the Academy said that they “were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night. We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community.”

Though security is handled by an outside company, they said, “the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”

Representatives from Security Industry Specialists, Inc., the security company that oversaw the Oscars this year, shared a statement with Vanity Fair characterizing the interaction as “incidental contact” and adding that “this is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team.”

“There was a brief interaction involving Ms. Taylor and a member of our security team during the show last evening,” the statement reads. “Our security personnel were working to manage a crowded area and ensure the safety of all guests. During that interaction, there was incidental contact and we regret that the situation escalated. This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again.”
