NBC announces four new shows after canceling eight — including fan-favorite Law & Order spinoff

NBC has added four new shows to its 2026-2027 TV lineup after quietly axing eight, including a Law & Order spinoff and Kelly Clarkson’s popular daytime talk show.

The network began making sweeping changes to its programming earlier this year, with the surprising cancellation of its long-running entertainment news program, Access Hollywood. Since then, it has pulled the plug on three daytime talk shows, Karamo, The Steve Wilkos Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show, as well as four scripted series: Law & Order: Organized Crime, medical drama Brilliant Minds, cheerleading mockumentary Stumble and crime drama The Hunting Party.

The drastic overhaul comes after the network signed an 11-year deal with the NBA, meaning the TV schedule had to clear space in its original programming to prepare to air up to 100 regular-season games in the fall.

Still, NBC is preparing to debut four new scripted originals in the coming months.

The series follows the Hollingsworth family, who become entangled in a deadly conspiracy following the death of a U.S. Marshal. The family of law enforcement agents must rely on their professional skills to protect one another as they attempt to bring the killer to justice.

Taylor Bloom and Tommy O’Brien also feature as two of the adult Hollingsworth sons, Russ and Mike Jr.

The Rockford Files, a modern retelling of the original 1970s six-season detective drama — starring the late James Garner as Jim Rockford, an ex-convict and private detective, who solves crimes with the help of fellow ex-cons — will premiere in January.

Bones star David Boreanaz takes on the role of Jim, alongside a cast that includes Emmy-winning Australian actor Jacki Weaver.
